* * TEAM RIDERS SWEEP AT EUROPEAN KITESURF CHAMPIONSHIPS * *

September 30, 2002, White Salmon, WA- Team Slingshot keeps smoking  competitors on their world tour, this time at the Cornwall Pro European Kitesurf Championships at Watergate, England. The Spaniard duo of Alvaro Oneiva and Abel Lago walked away with 1st and 2nd, respectively. Swiss Miss Fiona Wedenig completed the Slingshot reign with 3rd place in the women's division.

The women's heats were equally as intense, with Fiona going big and smooth as Swiss hot chocolate.  Despite ugly conditions -- nasty onshore winds, huge shore breaks, and strong currents -- the Switzerland native silenced the whiners with  finessed one-footed rotations and front to blinds to take home 3rd in a very competitive women's heat.

After six days of sunny, windless skies, a breeze kicked in on day seven to allow for the competition to take place. 15-year old Oneiva  dominated the event with outrageous jumps and technical spins. The Spaniard strutted some huevos with a  flawless blind 360 degree backspin to blind. Abel served up some of his own huevos with intense jumps and smooth transitions to complete the Spanish combo platter.
