Wolf Lake Biological Experiment Area- 6/23

Postby skysurfr » Sun Jun 23, 2013 9:30 am

It's blowing off share all around the south half of the lake...blowing inward toward the middle of the lake. SW on this side , SSE on the MI side.

looks like a Wolf Lake day... shrug.

"Drag" a box over our area and release it to zoom in. That will show you the winds at all the airports around and give you an idea of the general direction and trend.

It looks like it's the big lake pulling the wind toward the center of the lake. So, my guess is that Wolf will stay s sw.

Weather Lesson number 311-

When the wind suddenly comes up...it's always a good idea to ask .. Why?

....because it's about to Thunderstorm.

This is especially true with SW winds.

:-)

There's another line behind it heading across the Fox River valley right now...

All storms from SW dissipated as they reached us at Wolf yesterday. The big light show from the West amazingly turned NE before it got to us and was sucked out over the big lake. The bad news in the end... it killed the wind. Up and down on 14-17Ms... the kites that is. All late afternoon until about 5:30. I never did get out on my 13... had high hopes though!

Amazing watching those vanish on the radar. Here in OP it poured for an hour or two!

The same thing happened with the line moving in from the west, it gave it all up before it got here.
