Is anyone going snowkiting this weekend?

Postby ilivni » Thu Dec 12, 2013 12:27 pm

Hi,

I am sort of new to the area, especially kiting here. Is there anyone going out this weekend? Looking to put in a few hours of kiting this weekend. I would not mind up to a 3hr drive to get "epic" conditions.

Going to try Naperville tomorrow/Sunday. Check the map I posted in Midwest kiting. Any brown spots are fields. Blue spots are lakes which may be frozen over. PM me and we can talk more about spots :D

"I got out to Pike this afternoon right about sunset. The wind was marginal, but I decided to see if I could make it work. It worked. The snow was very good. It's almost 100 percent snow cover, and the snow is bonded to the ice. It's a little crusty, but not bad. Edging is really easy. There are some deeper soft snow in spots, so better landing for my blown jumps. Lots of ice thickness. It was 7 inches 100 yards from shore yesterday, and last night when I went to bed it was 12 below zero. Probably thicker today as a result."

- From the Milwaukee forum.... so I guess it's possible! Get out and ride it!

I'm just picking up this sport. I can snowboard and I have some experience with the kite. if dudes are getting together I'd be up for a meet-up.
