Australian kiter in town

Postby Aussie » Mon Jul 07, 2014 10:37 am

I'm visiting from Australia until Friday & have my kite gear (suited to 17-25 knots).
I'm staying close to Montrose beach, but would be happy if there's any advice, or people going for a kite who'd be happy to have a passenger.

Hey Adam,

Welcome to the city. The forecast isn't looking so good for kiting this week. Possibly tomorrow will be your best day on this side of the lake, but I think it will be too off-shore to do anything. Watch the forums and someone might post something on where they are going.

Montrose beach is open to those that have passed IKO or PASA level certification. This is due to the amount of beach goers and swimmers in the area and harder than normal on-shore conditions, but if you are certified I can help you get what you need. Again, the wind isn't looking great though. Summer time is our "off-season" for wind unless you travel 3+hours to places with thermal effects in Sheboygan, WI (not looking great this week) or Upper Michigan side which could work some days, but you are looking at long one way drive.

Thanks - I checked out Montrose beach this morning.
I'm an IKO L2 Instructor, so that's not an issue.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for wind.

If anyone else is reading this, leave a message for this guy. I'm sure karma would come back if we ever went to Aussie-land

Welcome to Chi! Glad you have the ability. Please abide by all rules at Montrose... posted below. Not sure if "checked out" means you went to have a look or put up a kite but rule # 1; you must fly an issued streamer on your kite... regardless of who else is around or not around.

Please read the rules and take Adrien up on his generous offer to help you out.

Enjoy your stay and come hang out with us Wednesday eve! http://www.chicagokitesurfing.com/kiteboarding_messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12397
