Northern Lake Michigan 7/2-4/10

Friday, Sat, Sun may be colossal up north.
I am driving to the UP to rip.
If anyone is free from obligations, they may want to consider camping up there this weekend.
Three days in a row is pretty rare. And to have this occur over a weekend almost never happens (in summer).

It's going to be killer in the TC area, but I am heading north where is should be epic.

Where do you launch at in the bay?
I'll be on Lake Skegemog and ride on Elk Lake.
It's a tricky downwinder from Elk Rapids to Torch River but that's where the crib is.

East Bay has a couple slicks. 8 minutes from Skeg (which is killer for early season snowkiting btw)

One is well known, but it can be a damned zoo nowadays.

Base of west bay is less than 20 minutes from skeg.

Leelanau penninsula is amazing. 45 minutes

You've got the skills for anything we do out here. I can get you a loaner helmet. It'll be fun to ride again.

The reason I am getting out of TC this weekend is because it is a madhouse when the Cherry Festival is going on. If taking a left turn takes more than 5 minutes, I'm out.

God damn it.
My lady participated in a regatta yesterday, so I was on babysitting duty.
It blew so hard that a sailboat sank.
After the race, I bolted to west of the bridge. The Northern Lake buoy was at 19 kts with 5 ft waves (not very big).
When I got to the beach, there were decent sized glassy waves. The wind was 3 kts from the north!?!?!?
The cherry on top. My TC spots evidently ripped. The guys were saying that some dude on a Brokite board was blowing minds.

I will report more on these spots in the UP for anyone interestd. So far, I'd have to say that unless it's blowing 30kts at the Northern Lake Buoy, it's weak.
