Sunday 8-22 at St Joes

Postby Bob » Sat Aug 21, 2010 7:17 pm

I'm trying to get a last minute madtown crew to head over to St Joes or possibly South Haven Sunday. Looking forward to meeting up with any chicago or MI crews.

Oh yea...don't want to forget any IN crews. Cory...let me know where you end up? I'll text you in the AM if I/we are on the way.

Curious...forecast is N 15-20 now all up and down the coast. Earlier it was N 20-25 further north, but it backed off now to N 15-20. Anyone think it will get a north push and be stronger that 15-20?

Stoked to get in some strapless and maybe get that little broboard out for a ride.

I've been checking the forecasts all night. They seem to be all over the place. From what I can see though, South Haven to St. Joe looks like the sweet spot. I'll check again early in the morning and then head out. I plan on being on the road to somewhere by 6:00 a.m. central.

Let me know where you guys go. I need a bar for tomorrow. Can I borrow anyone's? I have a lark's heads back lines and knots on the front lines (on the bar).

Thanks

Just got home from the gig in Saugatuck.
It's already windy NE 21-23kts.
The trees are rockin.
I can hear waves sitting on the porch here in the haven so it sounds like it's brewing already.

St Joe or SH...you pick...they both will get pretty good I think.

Yo Bob,I'll check the Casino first on my way and if its not exceptional in the terms of wind and waves I'll go to St.Joe or Da Haven..but right now,MI looks much better and later in the day push gonna happen between S.J.and SH as well.

Just a remainder for etiquette in the line-up. Surfers have priority even though you come from the backdoor

Ugh....the wind looks like it's North-East.... that is... FROm the North East.... isn't that side off for most of the Michigan coast? Readings are now 035 degrees....

M-City?
Weiko?
Bever Shores
Miller?
Whoreshoe?

Also, as we usually ride Michigan on a SW, I assume on a North, we should be launching on the SOUTH side of the piers?

Tough decision this morning: St Joe - to go or not to go?? Worried the wind would have too much North in it here and the prospect of some nice waves from el Norte was tempting, but the drive wasn't appealing to us, so...

We decided to stay local (MKG) and it went OFF big time!!!! from 1pm until after 6pm...solid 20-25 kts and one of the steadiest winds in direction (330) I've ever seen here. The high pressure phenom is incredible here. It just turns on and cranks hard. Even had some nice waves by the end of the afternoon for a sweet downwinder. Super "boosty" wind today for people with those strap things. One of my riding partners was getting 7-8 second hang times on our downwinder - lots of hooting and hollering from the people on shore.

Yeeeeehawwww!!!!

The party came a little late today.
Had to do alot of stuff. One of those days where you thought you had the hall pass and then it gets revised hourly. I missed riding with all my buddies in S. Beach, but I got out before dinner around 4 ish and it was ok then after dinner it turned on. I rode till after sunset to a full moon rising. Got out right as they turned the lights out. Twas a good night of riding.

MKG sounds like it was the spot.

Skunked at Michigan City. Might have been able to milk a 16. I did get to the very small boat show....there may be a sailboat in out future.

What!!! I can't believe it. I thought all that wind would work it's way South.

Mike...come to MKG
(you should get a Cessna 182 Amphib, fly over here in less than an hour, water landing on Muskegon Lake, 4 block walk to the beach)
