Maurice got it right..........Miller rocked!!!
It was nice to meet Avi, Maurice, and Amanda at Miller; also good to see Ben again. Nice crew at the bottom of the lake.
Wind built quickly once it shifted. Amanda got there around 11 or so and rode her 9m "perfectly powered" I do believe for about an hour or so....the wind began clocking more NW and building.
I hit the beach to the sight I love soooooo much......the sight of sand being blown through the parking lot with a side-on wind...screaming on through!! Knew it was either a 9m or a 7m. Decided to rig a 9m, ride for a while, once it turned too onshore I was heading to Casino!!
Wind was a bit gusty, which is typical in the first few hours of a strong NW...rode in front of parking lot for awhile, then went upwind with Greg to find some cleaner waves to ride. Was probably about head high, and building when I went out....within an hour there were 8 to 10 foot faces and it was breaking out past the pierhead. Unbelievable how quickly it can build in wave height.
Rode with Greg, tagged a couple of the bigger sets, crisscrossing and screamin' and hollerin'......gotta love the FALL....and it is here in full force. Had my 9m depowered all the way, and was still juiced to the max. Came in when it started gusting to 40.....packed it up and headed to the Casino.
Showed up to the best thing you can see at the Casino. That is Scotty G. tearin' it up on a 9m. You know you are hittin' the Casino at the right time when Scotty is playin' the slots!!!!! It was good....damn good....bout as good as it gets at the Casino. Slavi, Ivo, Amanda, Ben, Greg, Scotty G and myself sliced, diced and tore it up till dark and then some.
The surfers were catching waves on the corner....Pete (the best surfer on the Lake) was shredding it left and right. INFO for all......NEVER spray a surfer, fly your kite over a surfer, or go upwind of a surfer in the line-up. ABSOLUTELY a NO NO!!!!!! Promote good relations, respect their "line-up", and give 'em a smile and a salute....watch 'em, but give 'em some space.
Greg, Amanda and I went to 3 Floyds after the "streetlight sesh", and marvelled over their 17 beers on draught....all brewed on premises!! Gumballhead, Pride and Joy, and the Lord Admiral Nelson made it to our table, along with a killer Cheese Pizza and some apps. WOW!!!! now that's a tradition that we ain't gonna let die. 3 Floyds after a Fall Miller sesh.......that's livin', livin' LARGE!!!
