Thinking of heading to Grass Lake again this Saturday. Wind forecast looks real good (as of right now):

Forecast is sputtering, gosh darn it

...best wind on Saturday is 15 gusting 17 mph @ 3pm

rest of the day is worse / less :cry:

Well, the closest forecast I can get for wind for Grass Lake is McCollum Lake in McHenry, IL. They're calling for the following on WindFinder.com:

but I can tell you it ain't blowing 13 right now, it's more like 5-10, and less at times, almost calm.

Unless it picks up later today, I won't be going... let's hope for better tomorro!!!!

well, I decided to go and actually had a pretty good solo session from 1 till 3.30pm... I was on 13.5 underpowered at times but it was still enough to keep going, there is more fresh snow on the lake so board wasn't scraping ice like last Saturday.

good call.....looked nice out today....did it clear off a bit in the middle of the day, and get sunny?

Out of curiosity I brought with me GPS and had it on for about one third of the session, top speed was only about 20mph, conditions were slower than last Saturday due to fresh powder and I covered slightly over 11 miles (with GPS on).

PS note to self - do not leave knee pads in the car when learning to go toe side on ice

darn it - went out to do the driveway about 11 or so - sun came out, wind picked up & I seriously thought about going....

talked myself out of it when I checked the wx though

this tells me it's much windier out there than here or wx guys say..... will remember for next time....
