the year 2002 and 2003 were the years for Naish with their "beginner" kites. The Aero II was mine and this was the best thing to have on your kite in that time....... But It never made it to mine because it was to expensive! lol

Oh man. Watching "the complete kiteboarding guide" and seeing that UDS thing they dangled about was pretty funny. The shape of that kite is weird too. So much C shape. I'm surprised the aerodynamic engineers didn't come crashing in like "WTF are you doing?" I rode a 2005 fuel, which is fairly similar, but I'm sure that shape has some idiosyncrasies as well.

How much were they back then too? Coplete bar/lines/kite/bag/pump

I just got done watching it. 3 stainless steel swivels. Damn. That's like the 6 pulleys on some kites.

I thought the SSS system was around $200!!! Thats why I couldnt get it! lol Just bought a 16 and 12 Aero 2. Money was gone. The good old days with thick beginner boards......

The Aero was around 1500 about the same price as the kites these days. I got it with discount for 900 euro's (around 1200$). 100% 50% depower ehhhh..... 200% FULL POWER

Ah yes 200% depower. When you activate the depower system it drives you into the ground away from the kite. Er wait no that's imposible. I had forgoton how much naish liked velcro and neoprene safty releases.

I think my first kite was a Naish AR5, 11.5M kite.

It had 100% depower.

When I would hit something, like a fence, I would let go of the bar... and the kite would fly away and crash!

:D

sure you got your kite cheaper, way to go your a savvy shopper.

what i got for my money can't even be measured monetarily.

I supported a local shop, lessons were included in the package, and I was correctly introduced to a sport that has changed my life in so many ways.

I would have paid almost anything if I knew it would have led to what it has.

I started out on two line foils which scared the crap out of me. Nothing like getting lifted 15 feet in the air without warning when you've got it parked @ 12:00. Modern gear is so much more fun to fly. Way safer too!

I would have paid almost anything if I knew it would have led to what it has.

I would've kicked someone square in the nuts if I could've seen the coming addiction to this damn sport. I should have my head examined for getting involved with a water sport that requires 15ph+ of clean wind to have a good session when I live in Indiana! Lol.

rotflmao.......yea boy. 2 line slingshot torque 8.8 with a slingshot LFB (little fat bastard). Fixed harness loop with no safety release.

there were so so many huge blow ups on the water because you would get going mach 10 so fast and there was NO depower and the boards were thick and hard to edge.

yea...i would have let someone kick Me in the nuts and I still would have gotten into this sport.

riders now have it SO SO easy when learning.

hmmm...wonder if that torque still holds air. i feel a retro day coming.

2-line foil with broom stick bar... almost as good as a 5th-line C-kite

Savvy, you say......?
absolutely goddamn right about that.
