I just returned from a trip to southeast Florida to find out about this phenomenon. I don't know if I would have gone into the water had I known about the sharks. Kited with a great crew of locals at Delray Beach and got to test drive my new Bro 144cm. I was able to kite in the waves and chop in Delray and flat water at *Crandon Park. The board performed great in all conditions; probably end up getting a 134cm also.

*Crandon Park has very strict rules about riding their beach. You have to sign multiple waivers and pay $20/day or $100/yr fees. They also have someone patrolling the beach daily to verify you are certified and have paid your fees. I guess I can't blame them. Miami just lost another fabulous kite beach due to unsafe riders endangering swimmers and sunbathers (Rickenbacker Causeway). I visited Miami last year and did not get a chance to kite at this beach; major disappointment.
