were you staying just to the south of Real? It looks like you were launching just to the south of the Real slick. I will be staying in a house(not on the sound) in that subdivision. Were you launching off of a water access for the sub division or in the yard of your rented house? curious to know exactly what our water access will be like. thank you for any info

It looks like you have navigated the learning curve quite nicely, you even managed to avoid the stray poleboarder, well done, grasshopper. It looked to be a little brisk that april day, but just enough air to fill your pipe.

Yes, this was just south of The Slick. "Wind Over Waves" subdivision. Water access is probably better suited for windsurfing but still pretty good, no need to stay in the house right on the water. Depending on the wind direction and water level I'd either self launch hooking kite via leash to the dock or use open area next to the leftmost house, another option is to use peninsula next to the public access. Also if you don't mind a short drive, Salvo day use area has a nice sandy beach and on a SW you can ride right back to the house.

Last October I did a little "downwinder" from the same place (first time on a directional board and almost no wind) down to the house where you - Jens, Bob and the rest of Madison crew were staying... thanks for the shot of whiskey by the way, it was much very appreciated!
