Just visited the south entrance of the Zion Illinois Beach State Park, AKA Adeline Jay Geo-Karis Illinois Beach - State Park aka Zion. The south entrance and beach are off limits. They figure it will be closed all season. The north entrance is open. The north entrance is on 17th street. The 7th street north point marina is closer to the north side of the beach. I just checked the ILDNR sight closures web sight and it is indicating September 9th as the re-evaluation date. So no sooner then the 9th of september. http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt/parks/Alerts.html http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt/parks/r2/ILB/ILB_SiteMap.pdf
map of the north and south entrances. The people I talked to indicated that the beach is closed to 75 feet of the shore. Take that as you may.
They have a e-mail form for comments. http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/PARKS/VisitorComment.htm
