Update on ZION

Just visited the south entrance of the Zion Illinois Beach State Park, AKA Adeline Jay Geo-Karis Illinois Beach - State Park aka Zion. The south entrance and beach are off limits. They figure it will be closed all season. The north entrance is open. The north entrance is on 17th street. The 7th street north point marina is closer to the north side of the beach. I just checked the ILDNR sight closures web sight and it is indicating September 9th as the re-evaluation date. The people I talked to indicated that the beach is closed to 75 feet of the shore. Take that as you may.

Thanks for the info, did a bomb go off there?? They really must have had some wind to close the park the entire summer.

So what is the status of the north lanuch? Is it a large beach or just a small clearing by the water??

It was probly a tornado. Downed around 500 tree the Thursday before the 4th of July. Formed over the lake.

The closure Probably has more to do with lack of funds from clean up-costs than on going repair. No way it takes months to clear trees off one road. There using this oppurtunity to square the budget is my guess.
