I want your junk kites

I've found a seamstress that can turn your old kite canopy into really cool changing ponchos. I took an old 12m Cab and made a very cool, hooded, lined with fleece pullover to change into/out of my wetsuit/drysuit in the cold under.

Don't throw that kite away. I'll take it. If you want, I can get it turned into a poncho like mine for about $50. Otherwise, let me have it. I'll pay for shipping to get it to me.

Haven't taken any pics yet, maybe if there is wind tomorrow.

It's not about the cover up, it's about the cold. The kite is wind resistant and the fleece is warm. I gets col' changin after a ride.

Got 2 towels at Sears for $10 sewed them together and have my changing poncho. Cheap solution and it is really warm!! But the idea is pretty cool with the kite

This is the first one. I would have like to have taken advantage of the logos and design better, but next time I'll get my seamstress on that. The fleece was about $10-15 and the sewing cost $15-$20. Not really much better than two towels.

Makes me wonder how many old kites are sitting around the US (the world) and not getting used. I know I have a few.

It would be interesting to see if Polartec would donate blemished fleece or roll ends, gather up a bunch of kites, find someone who would donate sewing time, and produce some ponchos for charity?

Anybody experienced with this sort of initiative?
