I adhere to the 40/40 temp rule..........3 mil gloves will keep your forearms from cramping and will give you ample protection from the elements up to 40/40 in my opinion..........if you need 5 mil, either it is below 40, the wind-chill is EXTREME, you are out for more than 2 hours at a time, OR IT IS TOO DAMN COLD!!! Remember, if your hands are getting cold, how is the water going to be if you have to swim in to save your life....if your hands or forearms go, it is mighty difficult to swim............I would NEVER wear a drysuit, if you need a drysuit the temps are TOO COLD for safety....try swimming in a drysuit in waves.....get a rip or a tear and you are DONE!!!! just my two cents.....ONEILL, 3mil gloves....used to use the DA KANE mittens, OK but no use of fingers in an emergency....SAFETY FIRST!!

Ben, if you have found a set of 5 mil gloves that won't cramp your forearms then great, but I would make damn certain about that; Greg and I have never found a pair of 5 mils that work when kiting.......keep it safe and wait for the snow when the BIG LAKE gets too cold for kiting.....COLD WATER is a KILLER!!
