NYC area kiting

Has anyone done any riding in the NYC area? I'm going to be spending some time out there and debating on whether or not I should bring my kite gear.

I found http://nykitecenter.com/about/ and http://nyka.org (hasn't been updated in almost 2 years), but couldn't find anything similar to our message board.

I moved out to NYC from Chicago last year (spent every week going back and forth during the three previous years). The reason you can't find any information online, is because we are all too busy kiting to post anything on the intertron Clearly, you are getting spoiled by this fantastic Chicago kite forum. I have yet to find another source with such a thick concentration of location specific information and helpful local kiters. The scene is definitely different in NYC / NJ, but the area offers the most diverse kiting options I have found anywhere, and we get a consistent kiteable seabreeze every sunny day in the summertime. I score more sessions out here in a month than in a full year back in Chicago, so definitely bring your gear when you come out.
