I figured it would be pretty cool to have everyone post their favorite picture (or three) from 2013. I put this under open forum for greater visibility and because it's not just about the pictures, but about the locations and situations! I know the water season is far from over, but as it's winding down, I'd love to see some huge air and hear some long-winded tales. Let's try to keep it under 3 pictures.
I'll start with my favorite: http://imgur.com/cOxKn3I
Hatteras, NC: The end to a day that included 10 hours on the water. Soundside and Oceanside were ripping with 20-25kt winds and we kited until the sun was down and there was barely enough light to see. I'm the little speck in the distance underneath the kite. Considering how far offshore I am, I know I got up pretty high on the jump... and of course, you can't see the backroll from that distance, but it's alright!
Waukegan Beach, IL: An amazing day with 20-25kt SSW winds. Boat support made this day possible as the wind slowly added in more W and the jumps kept going higher and higher. Butter smooth waters at Keegs, and without a doubt the most memorable day of the 2013 season for me.
Moline, IL: Kiteboarding the Mississippi in the Spring. This was the only launch that wasn't flooded, and it was very narrow
. Boulders lining the shore, logs in the river and submerged concrete walls meant that I had to be super alert on the water. The river is 3/4 miles wide and the winds are very gusty coming off the bluffs into the valley... that is... until you get to the center of the river where the winds are clean and there is barely any chop. I was just happy to kite so near to my college, so it was a meaningful session for me.
That's it for me, thanks for taking a look. I look forward to seeing some sweet pictures and hearing some great stories!
