Montrose stank

Literally... I showed up and the beach smelled like shit. It smelled like it was coming from the water it was so bad I couldn't stand there for too long and the beach was deserted. Did Milwaukee shit on us again?

Anyway windsurfed at casino after leaving montrose and rode from 3-5. The waves were decently big and there were some step breaking faces, sweet for launching a poleboard.

Can anyone explain the smell?

I called the city, and they said there was no sewage dump in the water.

There was a GIANT pile of seaweed up on the beach. I noticed this stuff on the bottom when flying over, I assume itt got brought up and deposited on the beach after rotting on the bottom.

The smell subsided as soon as you were upwind of the seaweed, so I assume that was it. The wind was blowing over the seaweed onto the grass area.

I agree it was NASTY!

nice, i see montrose hasn't changed. You guys are idols dealing with all that crap with that beach! i'm surprised it hasn't been condoned yet with gllass, metal, concrete chunks, stink, ecoli, rabid dog bites, bird doo doo, political struggles, angry lifeguards, dog poop and piss on your stuff while you ride, did i leave anything out? lol

oh yeah, and you had to pay to get certified to ride that beach! My o my.

Yeah, you forgot the cops that wait by your car to do surprise trunk inspections for beer or illegal substances, as a dog craps on the beach in plain sight!

The only redeming factor is the occassional hot girl that asks you about your equipment (windsurfing or kitesurfing that is). You don't get that at Miller, Kenosha or Wolf.

Don't know many hot girls that hang out at Montrose in 20 mph winds and 40 degree weather. How can you tell under all that insulation?! LOL

The Sanitation department returned my call. They said there was no sewage dumped in the lake. He did mention airconditioning outlets that spill into the lake. Anyhow he left his direct line, and I'll call him back to ask more about it.
