I'm seeing and hearing about breaking lines and equipment failures quite a bit lately. Check your gear thoroughly and replace any shoddy, frayed lines or chicken loops, etc. You can do this pretty inexpensively and its not worth driving in traffic, paying tolls and $3/Gal gas to get there and get stranded 1/4 mile off shore swimming in. Not to mention possible personal survival problems due to cold weather, etc.
