Hatteras 10/17 - 10/24

Going to be going on a group trip to Hatteras from 10/17 - 10/24. Most of the people are going to be coming from Michigan, so I'd like to know if anyone was going to be heading out there at that time by car from the Chicago area. I'll probably end up flying, but just thought I'd ask. Please let me know, thanks.
