Costa Rica 01/21/11

Did your time away from the rat race serve you well? Don't hold out on the crew. Post the details so we can rent the room you trashed last week.

heading out to Costa Rica in few days and hopping to do some riding there. I don't know if anyone just got back and can give me an update on riding spots.
I be staying in Bahia Culebra and i hear you can do some riding there (hopping for downwind from hotel beach), and of course you have "The Spot lake arenal  and Bahia Salinas.
From what i understand wind is strong there, however forecast don't show it so much. Maybe i should pack my big door?

I have been to Bahia Salinas twice. Once in 05 and the other in 06 both during my spring breaks in March. You will not need a big kite. I rode a 7, 9 and 12's there and these were 04 yargas or 05 fuels. On the second trip I could only ride for 3 of 9 days as the wind was to strong, 40 plus. So we went north to Nicaragua surfing for 4 days instead. From what I understand the wind forecasts are always much weaker for that area and that the Arenal spot is a very bad place to ride. Bahia Salinas can be choppy depending on the tide, and the wind gusty, but with the kites today you will be fine. The first year I was there I saw a german guy jumping much to close the beach and get lofted. He then got drug through over 20 huge catus plants. He spent 3 days in the hospital and had over 150 needles in him. Lots of sea life i.e, turltes, string rays, schools of tuna and sea snakes. The beach there is nothing special but there are few really nice ones a short drive away. You will get wind for sure
I'd rather be Rollerblading
