.....Over the years, bodies have been fished out of Wolf Lake. In 1997 a skull was found on the shoreline, but the accompanying body parts were missing. That same year, the bullet-riddled body of a notorious street gang leader's son was found by a fisherman. In 1996, two women were found shot, stabbed and floating in Wolf Lake.
Still, people find the lake oddly appealing....
The body of Emmett Fissinger Sr., an Oak Lawn resident who disappeared a week ago in Wolf Lake while he was sailing with his son, was recovered Friday. Hammond police Sgt. Paul Walker said a truck driver northbound on the Indiana Toll Road spotted the body.
Fissinger, 62, drowned May 22 after he fell from a catamaran while sailing with his son, Emmett Jr.

Police and volunteer divers, aided by a cadaver-sniffing police dog, found the body of a Berwyn man Wednesday who disappeared 24 hours earlier under the murky surface of Wolf Lake in front of his son and horrified friends. Divers recovered the body of Sidney Brooks, 29, of 1324 S. Lombard Ave. near the lake bottom in about 13 feet of water some 100 yards offshore, said Sgt. Tom Torsell, an officer with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Brooks was on an 18-foot powerboat with neighbors and his son, Sidney Jr., when he jumped into the water for a swim about 2 p.m. Tuesday, Torsell said.
The body of a Calumet Park man was found in Wolf Lake this morning near Chicago's border with northwest Indiana.
The body of Winston Thompson, 63, of the 12600 block of South Loomis Street in Calumet Park, was found shortly before 7 a.m. in the lake near 130th Street and Avenue O in the Hegewisch neighborhood, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
On April 14, 1996, halfway across the nation, a Cook County, Ill., prostitute was picked up off a street and driven to the Wolf Lake area straddling the Hammond, Ind., and Chicago border. Sometime during the ordeal Laura Uylaki was shot twice in the head with a .38-caliber revolver, and afterward her killer threw her nude body into Wolf Lake where it was later found on the Chicago side of the lake. Police theorized that the killer had taken the victim's clothing and other items to hamper their efforts in identifying her. However, police in Illinois did not connect the murder with those in California.
An 11-year-old boy from East Chicago, Ind. who drowned after swimming out to an island in Wolf Lake, has been identified authorities say.
The child was identified by the Lake County, Ind. coroner’s office as Antwain Hall, 11, of the 4000 block of Olcott Avenue in East Chicago, Ind.
His body showed no visible signs of trauma and Antwain’s death was the result of an apparent drowning, a coroner’s office spokeswoman said this morning. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday, she said.
the point is... don't let this little lake fool you.
