Ok, good you are looking at the same wind graph. So you think Waukegan is OK then? Waukegan and Zion will both be almost totally off-shore wind. I'm worried you think it's OK to go there. Miller should obviously be the sound choice. I might show up if I don't have much to do or I can put down my new gadget for the next 2 days.

Sprint's HTC EVO 4G. It's actually Mike Urban's (skysurfer) new gadget too. I mentioned it this morning and he just up and got one.

It's personal opinion/ judgement call. Personally I like Android better as it allows me to do more with the phone, but for simplicity and usability the iphone wins. If ur a tech geek you'll like it. The new iPhone coming out and this phone are going to be the best phones this year so like I said it's just an opinion.

If things look good for Sunday may meet some of you out there then...no wetsuit yet so probably just come to say hello, I'm a noob that learned down in San Juan last month got to get around to getting a wetsuit for these waters.

That Evo 4G is HUGE, was really interested in it until I actually read the size and realized it the same as that monstrosity that Tmobile is selling, cool phone if it only fit in the pocket better.

@ Gerard:

I love how you tell on your website that the waters of Chicago are cold
What do i need to get started?

Kite, lines, bar, harness, board, wet or dry suit ( Chicago waters are cold), pump, helmet and Impact vest.

I just wonder all the time what you people from the Chicago Area think is cold?!

So, do you advice not having a dry or wetsuit to kite in Chicago, outside of June,July and August.....I have been kiting in Chicago since 2000 and though it's not nordic cold it is cold and being one of the pioneers of kting here in Chicago it's my duty to advice properly.

I'm not much for kiting in Speedo's

Do some forum research on the subject of Lake MI water temps or get someone to explain it to you clearly.

The water in LAke MI can go from 70F one day to high 40's F the next day...even on the hottest day of the summer, so don't be naive about this.

I've seen people turn blue, literally. Hypothermia is a real killer, especially if you are not an experienced waterman.

Well said Roberto.........been kiting Lake Michigan bout 10 years. Went to LSP last weekend....had to borrow a wetsuit cause I left mine in Texas, and it was in the mail. Water at shoreline was in the mid 50's....water 400 yards out had to have been in the mid 40's. I was coooold, and definitely didn't want to break down and swim!!! The water can be 70 one day, and 50 the next at the same exact beach!!

Don't be foolish when learning, you spend alot more time in the water, and you're self-rescuing skills are problably not the best. Safety first. Kite with a friend, and wear the proper amount of rubber. Someone may have a full wetsuit for you, keep asking!

Cold water is a relative thing...it's all fun and games until you have to swim in from 400 yards, 600 yards, 1/2 mile....with crashing waves, with a current, with no help from others....especially when you don't have superior self-rescue skills and you are hoping others will save you....then it can get real cold real quick. Mr. Dutch (sorry don't know your name yet) DO NOT mislead people into thinking that Lake Michigan waters aren't cold. Your experience of the lake is minimal, your skill level may be quite high, but your knowledge of Lake Michigan is quite low!!!!! Don't step on the toes of those who know, especially when advising new kiters....errrr on the side of caution, please!! I believe that was Gerard's point!! If you are loaning the shorty, helping Stephen, watching him constantly, and swimming out to help him when needed....that MIGHT be a different matter. He did say that he just learned in San Juan last month!

I NEVER kite without a wetsuit on Lake Michigan, rarely wear a 3/2 and never wear a shorty. There are many kiters who do those things, that is there choice. I suit up for the SWIM IN, not the ride out!!! 8)
