travel suggestions for DECEMBER?

hey folks,
i'd like to go kitesurfing somewhere warm in december for 10 days.. any ideas for destination (caribbean? hawaii..? ..???)?

my basic requirements are:
- good wind conditions for a beginner
- a place that does IKO certification
- preferably a direct flight from chicago

Maybe cabarette in the dr or Hawaii. Hua Hin Thailand. brasil is winding down also. Baha Mexico... Las barilles.

Texas and Florida are hit or miss. It could be in the 70s in Texas or it could snow.

I'm not sure about the wind in Cabarete in December but it is a sweet area and pretty cheap (other than flights). There is a ton of other stuff to do if its not windy.

I have also been looking into IKO schools. Joanna from Laura Eastman Kiteboarding in Cabarete, DR, has been awesome with providing information. Here is some info from a recent email that you may find helpful:

Well down in costa rica we have side shore wind with long beach to learn on. Also guaranteed everyday wind. And not light hard to learn in possibly strong enough wind. Am talking 24/7 good wind like 8m to 10m size kite all the time. December is great month for us. However we do not have IKO cert. Those are hard to find have to research and register ahead. I am originally from Chi Town area. Kite there ever so often is great. Major advantage is the flights to CR from Chi Town are only $500 to $550 can find some direct. Warm water and guaranteed wind. Also have amazing rental villas with pools on the kite beach starting at $15/person in the KiteHouse.
