This might help if you're working on backrolls. There's a backrool with a back kiteloop thrown in there too. It's my first time working with the new GoPro Cameras. The "fisheye" lens seems to have flattened everything out. this is from the 1st 30 min of 8 hours of video to edit

Awesome Mike!

OK, so I bought one of these a few months ago. Amazing videos, huge files in HD obviously. I've recorded mostly in r4 b/c that gives a taller view and I figure that gives me the best chance of seeing myself when mounted on a strut (has worked well). However, I cannot edit the video clips with i.e. Windows Movie Maker and some other programs.

What do you guys use to edit these videos? Are there free, simple, software programs just to delete segments? And no, I don't own a Mac.

slavi- I picked up the wrost housing too and a second camera. I think we can attach it to a strut on the kite. I didn't want to try it in the waves and have the kite crash from an imbalance. Perhaps we can try it at Wolf Lake in the spring.

Kevin- I used windows movie maker. They suggest Final Cut Pro. If we switch to that, you're welcome to come along with me and get a lesson from my brother. He's a video man for ABC and knows how to use the program. It's a bit like using Photoshop to do your pictures. It's complex and big, but powerful as well.

I'm not too happy with the big fisheye effect.

I like the fisheye...gives us a greater view. I have a housing for the strut too.

I use Adobe Premiere for my video editing (windows side). It's big and complex like Final cut Pro, but once you get it...it's awesome. I think I'm getting a very hinted on GoPRO from the girlfriend so be on the lookout for me in the water taking vids next year

Oh and Mike that day I saw you at S Haven when I first had my camera, I was using the Chest mount device. Really does not work well for kiting, it's a goofy view of your arms, though the mount might work nice for other activities.

I have used the self adhesive helmet mounts so far. You stick the base plate to your helmet, and then the camera and mount click into the base like a "pinch buckle". I didn't trust it to I tied a string on the camera and the helmet, in case the mount let go.

I have the side mount, and the over the front mount too.

I had used one before in the same position so I had a good idea how to angle it.

www.gopro.com has all the mounts etc.
the cameras are the same, its just the mounts in the kit that are different.

It would be fun to hook up 1 rider with 4 cameras!

Ok there's a smaller clip, but in HD. 2 minutes of video takes 1 1/2 hours to upload it!

A flip, some toe side riding, and a coouple of back spins with kiteloops thrown in.

Play it on your flat screen TV, and you'll be in Kailua! Woot woot!
