We were destined for Sheboygan but a little north in the forecast and a favorable report from Milwaukee had us riding at Grant Park. As it turned out it was the right choice. The wind was a little lighter up north and freaking cranking to the south. We had 30-40 knots and good waves.
Super great riding. Super clean awesome conditions. But..Next north come see casino at the bottom of the lake at least once. really big stacked waves in the middle that actually throw out and over so hard you cannot straighten out-must hit the lip or it will hit you. was by myself for 2 days and never knew it could fire like that. scott g
Those waves look pretty good, need to watch the vid after work. Used to play a lot of beach vball tourneys there. Always thought after getting into kiting it would be a good spot. How was the wind direction to the wave direction? Good to really it the waves?
V, The wind and waves lined up very nicely. The wind was about 20degrees but the waves at the break seemed to be coming straight on shore. I felt that the waves and the wind were perpendicular to each other. This allowed me to continue down the line, attacking the same wave moving north to south traveling a ways down the shoreline. The waves break in front/inbetween two old semi submerged jetties. I had to be somewhat timid of how hard I hit the wave in front of those. If you check out the Grant Park on google earth you can see the setup. This is not a beginner friendly spot.
