If any of you guys are riding in Indiana, let me know. I'm just getting into the sport and would like to meet some local riders and get in some practice as I watch you guys tear it up.

Hey Guys,

I'm new to Chicago area kiteboarding. Boarded few times in other areas.
I just wanted to get a feel for this weekend. It looks to me that on Saturday we will have North winds with 10-20 knots. Therefore anything north of chicago would be good. I take it Waukegan and Zion would be the best spots? In indiana though it would be an onshore wind, not so good. I would like to hear what the pros think for tomorrow.

Thanks a bunch

THE MAIN ENTRANCE AND SOUTH OF NUKE POWER PLANT SECTION OF ZION IS CLOSED TILL AT LEAST SEPTEMBER 8TH.

I sailed past the north section last night and man does it suck for kiteboarding. To much hard pointy stuff on the north side and the south has a beach that is just to small to land on. I'm either paying the $20 and doing Waukegan or I might try lake andria as I'm a Rex Plex member and can hit the sauna after riding flat warm water.

Gbleck thanks for the info on the North zion launch. That mirrors what West said to me about the spot in early July. Seems like the beach is small with lots of rocks.

Forecast is looking great today all along the lake. 5 riders are out in sheboygan right now with more to join soon. We have 18 gusting over 20 I'm thinking, but looks like it will build. I don't think we will get much for waves today, but the bottom of the lake will.

Today will be 5 days this week for me. Outstanding riding here yesterday for 3 hours before clouds killed it.
I'd rather be Rollerblading

just wondering why no one has mentioned montrose. for those chicago folks it sure is convenient. wolf lake, (north western indiana) looks even better, but my experience is that it is more gusty on that lake than on michigan. shaping up to be a nice day, wish i lived in shevegas.

To all the new people on this forum and this thread. One thing to keep in mind is that even if no one posts anything about a spot like Montrose, Waukegan, or anywhere else this doesn't mean that no one is going. Many people just view the forum and don't actually post. I've seen days where no one posted a thing and there were 20 kites at a beach.

Today I'd say everywhere on the lake is going to be busy. From Sheboygan, Zion/Waukegan, Montrose, Casino (maybe), Miller, South Haven, and up. Take your pick because someone is going to be there.
