From the TAFs, they are going to be the most accurate in terms of wind and time. But they are land (airport) forecasts so there is the thermal effect and lake channeling effect you have to consider.
I compare that with the overall windmap, and knowing the temperature of the water vs land, whether it is sunny or not, and direction of wind, its fairly easy to tell what will happen.
WSW works great for MC if the thermal block isn't happening. Currently it is 12-15 at MC and 14-18kts at SH. I see SH is falling off as the sun is warming up the ground (because its quite a bit on shore there already being WSW) so that's not good. But we're early in the wind forecast still supposedly kicking in around 2-3pm.
http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/metdata/shv/prev3.htmlAfter 2-3pm the ground will start to cool and stronger winds will come into shore. I will check it again around 12-12:30 and decide what to do, but at least we should have a few hours of sunset sess winds WSW at bev/MC before nightfall. (I hope).
