Nope, MC is not going to be flat on a W but if you stay close to the jetty you will find some flat water just between one wave and the other...

yo jpavy, what's the distance on that down winder? if it's a fairly long ride, count me in.. just got in my brand new 6/5/4 and i can't wait to have a nice toasty ride.. shoot me a text, if enough people want to do a downwinder, i'll bring the van and park it wherever the destination is so we can all ride back with our gear.. 630.nineONEseve.7790..

downwinder or not I am DEFINITELY riding on saturday.. don't know if it'll be miller, m city, warren, or southy..

Gonna be a gooooooooooood couple of days, FALL IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!

aW YEAH.......on like Donkey kong........noooooooo, not flat at MC on a W of this caliber....expect waves head to head and a half and pounding....be aware that if you are riding next to the jetty to respect the riding rights of the kiters on the waves; just keep your eyes open and be cautious of kiters heading down the line!!!!!!!!!! Kiters coming in on a wave have the right of way over any kiters heading out, so be prepared to turn back towards shore if necessary, then head back out....... AND do not spray any surfers in the water, always go downwind of a pack of surfers if they are present... :) (not a lecture, just basic info to know as your kiting abilities improve; give way to those riding the waves, it supercedes starboard right of way!!!!!!)

As for downwinders, remember that the farther away from the jetty, and the closer to New Buffalo you get, the waves will be increasing rapidly in size.....as well, the current will be tremendous with some rip currents. Stay safe, kite with a friend and know your limits!!!!

Brews at the Shoreline after sunset..........

Lake Superior Expedition 2.0 is happening for 5 of us this weekend. We are going to hit Grand Marais MI for this blow. We kited there last year and saw a lot of potential of hitting a strong forecast there. It’s got a great harbor with a nice long jetty, can’t wait. Going to be big, so I’ll be wearing both boots on this one.

Wind will be blowing Friday and raging 40-50 through the night. Waves on Saturday are 20-25ft near shore with winds around 40 and mellowing through the day. Plan to kite Sunday as well as the front calms but will be still be rocking. Wind direction is perfect for the Harbor layout. I scored a 3 bedroom house a block from the Brew pub right in town for 90 a night which includes cleaning fee and taxes. Good living ahead. Though a few people are missing from the trip to really make epic, you wouldn’t know anything about that would you Jarch??

Yes Safety first!! West, I'm really not sure what that place will look like compared to last time we were up there, but I do know it will take some study of the conditions and the break down outs. But that’s really the best part about this trip, cracking the code and experiencing a new place in unbelievable conditions. We are going to be getting our Lewis and Clark on up there.

Greg was and I bet still is on the fence (even though he has committed) about going, just because you guys are going to be hitting good just an hour from home. Now he’s looking at 7 plus hour drive. The reality is 7 hours is nothing for getting into the biggest waves in the lower 48 and trying out a new place. MC, Miller and ST Joe you guys know, but not GM on Superior baby!!! Ryan is bringing a camera with a super sports lens so we will for sure get some pics, though to be honest taking time to shoot is something none of us are good at.

Hi guys,
We are new in Chicago and in US, we just arrived 2 weeks ago.
We have our IKO3 and would like to get some advices on local spots around Chicago.
According to the wind conditions, where would you advise us to go this Saturday ?
Is Montrose ok?
Thanks a lot for your help,
Axelle and Antoine

Why don't you bring those brews to my backyard in South Holland Sat night! Only 20-25 mins from Lake St, only a few miles from the I80/294/94 split. In fact, all kiters welcome!! Bring what you wanna drink... I'll supply all the ingredients to put together pizzas and fire 'em in my wood fired oven.

Text 708.341.0003 to RSVP and receive back the address.
