3-6 and 3-7 of 2012

Postby adseguy » Mon Mar 05, 2012 11:02 pm

Next two days lots of sunshine and of course plenty of wind.

I know it's the weekday so not many can show up, but I'll throw it out there that I'll be at Wolf lake. I'll be able to grab a few hours here and there so if you are looking for someone to go I'll see yah out there. Gimme text or call if you want some specific times, probably the afternoon of Tuesday and the midmorning of Wednesday. I'll be fresh off the double heel injury and it's the first session on the year so I'm taking it easy for the first time. I'm sure the abs and forearms are going to take a BEATING the first few times out.

it is so tempting to go, getting over the nasty flu but i think heeling waters of wolf lake are good for your body

I'll be there around 4. We usually park in the parking area near the new playground. Pretty easy to spot us. come say hi before we get in that water

let the damnz games begin. call it what you want: "kite wing chung" "wrestle mania" or "driving too fast for conditions" fact is wolf kiting is another sport entirely and i kinda like it. Here i go into one of my oldies but goodies but this time, stalled 30 ft up back to the kite no pull and oh shoot, but then look to my left and kite is wrong side looping hard and oh well just got jacked into a new half wist rotation with a delay into a transition. Crap i could not have dreamt that up! More variations on that and some yardsales super discount style, made this session count for 10. The new light posts and "line grabbers" on the new hay sod are just a few surprises to keep you on your toes. awwwwhoooooooooooooo to crying wolf.

Yeah, my question too. I went yesterday around 4:00 and it was maddening. 6m was the call . It was really up and down though from 20 to 45. I never got a hit of 50 or 55, but they did register earlier in the day. These are gusty winds in general so I'm not keen on going anywhere to get a ride if it's anything like yesterday. Although around 5 oclock it did start to calm down and steady out and I did get a nice little session in without getting thrown around like a rag doll.

let us know if it calms down, but if I keep seeing this: http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/metdata/chi/prev3.html then I'm out for the day.

That is fair. When I said it is "blowing good." I was looking at readings of 22-38mph from the parking lot at wolf lake. Once i blew up and got on the water, I agree they were not the best conditions. Super gusty, getting overpowered at times on a 6.5m. It was an experience. With that being said... 2012 kiting has started for me so I am happy to have gotten out on the water.

Uh yeah, a 22-38 parking lot reading is not "blowing good" even for the wolf. Just wouldnt want to give anyone new to the scene or trying wolf after lessons, the impression that having ridden this spread in the gusts is just a quality issue and "not the best of conditions" but pure extreme. You do get 2012, balls of the year award at just the start of the season however!!
