Scott is right... thermal kill going on right now. Burns Harbor windmeter showing only 6kts... will pick up later though hopefully. Waukegan has 21kts gusting 28kts...

You can find directs to most, what we consider local launches, on the Homepage of this site. Here's the IN beaches which includes Lake St;

This shit is strong it should be blowing down there. I just looked it up now and it is. Small kites indeed. I saw a recording of gust to 40

Just got back from there... lotta kiters... Was about 17-19 and the sand was sticking to the beach when i showed up, perfect to try my 9m. Got in the water, went quickly to 27-37...got dragged through the water downwind and could not keep my heels down, pulled release... learned another lesson.

Much respect to the guys out there doing it.

Lit up like the friggin sun on a 9! And that was after nervously watching it go from blszing to really blazing 4 about an hour before finally committing to that kite. Exhausted! What a day right here on lake mi! It's craft beer time!!

respect to all warriors of Miller.
good time even when wind was changing every 2 sec. now when i look at the graft i can believe i stayed all day on 9.5 kahuna.
I loved that set up. flat water by the beach with nice kicker rolling in. big waves on the outside.

when one of those super gusts hit me it was on my way into a big controlled forward but then way more powerful then i actually imagined it ripped me clean out of the footstraps so fast and high i could not even contemplate the surge, then into multiple cartwheels and tae bo kicks . funny how fast you learn kung fu when your scared out of your mind. saw the inevitable crash for a long time and sure enough it was lights out. had to regain my world for a minute. those conditions can dish out some serious power in a surprising way that i do believ could potentially knock you clean out. Once again lake m showed whos boss.
big props to PIER who i saw when rigging, forfeit a part of his sesh to rescue a guy/kite separated from his kite that was blowing outward. dude is always out to rip but helping somebody just the same!

Thank you again Pier for helping me with a kite. I am still not sure what happen. I crashed a kite, I couldn't to launch it back it look's like one of the line breaks, ( later I found out it didn't ) I couldn't steer it and launch it. Kite start to spin... Long story short I relese kite, swim back to beach with board. And later Pier came with my kite to beach. Thank you again.
