Looks like a hot day with wind. we'll see in the morning but if Michigan site wont pick up i may end up at Wolf or kegan.

$20 bones for non res. to get on the beach at Kegan weekends and holidays.

If coming the Michigan way, Michigan City, will get some strong winds (compared to South haven or Joe) and might just make the sideshore position. Hot sand can pull a sw sideways for the 1st few hundred yards out. Even did so today for a bit so Its worth a check if heading up.

Best to down your kite on the shallow sandbars then on the beach if to try.

I'm up for Wolf or Michigan City... I'll keep looking at the posts and wind readings to see if wind is worth the drive. Hopefully will be able to leave Chicago at 10:00 or so... in a while an update on either site would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help!

This is driven by the front that is coming in. Once the storms pass at 2 or 4 o'clock the wind most likely will die. I'm heading out VERY soon once I fix my bar and kite. Heading to Wolf

Just passed wolf, 8 kites in the air and 12 windsurfers!

It was a bit crazy for more reasons than one.
The wind range was 0-30 miles/h, and it would go up and down within seconds, so one run could start with fighting to stay on the board while working the kite hard, and end with being dragged downwind, silly overpowered. Fun nevertheless.
But the real craziness was happening on the beach - I know, because of the new building, we would have to haul the gear additional 200 feet to a safe and empty lawn. Nobody did, and close encounters of a very unwelcome kind were numerous, kites going down in unsteady air and landing inches from beachgoers, slaloms between swimming kids, horror!
I'm not sure how to self-police that, or even wake people up to the fact that with the new setup, statistics are against nothing happening there in the near future, with another ban to follow...
P.S. Admittedly, I wasn't any better, the reflection came later, when I was watching from the shore...

Beautiful morning at keegs. Was there from 9-1:30, non-stop mostly side shore fantastic conditions. Started with big kite/big board, and just downsized as the wind picked up. Could have been up on an 8 easy when I left, it was really blowing! Great to see a few others out there.

Sheboygan ripped yesterday. We rode from 10ish until 4:30. Wind was near shore in the morning and then stayed out side over the cold water. Cloud bands never let the sun suck it in. 8-12 meter kites in the air, maybe 8 people out.

That was a good day.

Some dudes from down south even showed up. They said from Chicago.
But one dude on a Caution kite and this wild looking board sounded like he was from wayyy further south than that.

Good fun up here. Dead as a doorknob just 4 miles south of where it was blowing 18-24kts. Wow.

Helped my wife for the last time, as she is now better than me.
Gave my last lesson to a buddy! DONE! Unless my mom, dad, or grandma want to learn, I am retired!

Last, the other Chicago guy who also sounded like he was from the south (well, pretty well south of Chicago anyway) let me try his 11m Slingshot Rally.
Wow! What a smooth ass kite. So predictable.
I was more comfortable on it than on the kite I've been flying for 3 years. Pretty remarkable.

Mighty FINE indeed........our downwinder didn't quite materialize as we had planned, but like always the point fired up nicely!!!!!!! Such a beautiful spot, and always a great crew gathered on its beach......always well worth the drive. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly the waves begin to lap its shoreline; perhaps the best spot on the Big Lake to ride 'em right off the sand.......gotta love ol' Point Betsie! Once the sun came out again, and started shining and lit up the dunes, whooocheeemama that was MAGIC; shreddding it with the bros lit on my 9m!!

Great to see you Rorke, and always a pleasure; had a Stevie Ray and Albert King compilation I wanted to share with you...maybe next time. Your wonderful lady was kiting great, nice to meet your mom and dad, and great to see Madeline again!!! Give my best to Dan.....catch up with you later buddy.

we had a good holiday in madison as well. 8m and buttery spots all afternoon. the new board works great.
