good wave action knocking on the door for mc monday. lots of sun should mean a ripping morning and afternoon thermal. should look like an ocean with winds full fetch and veering cross on to line em out and serve em up.

Hello Kiters!

Anyone interested in doing their IKO Certification on Monday 6/25? Thinking either Waukegan or Montrose would be best. Montrose may be more convenient, especially on a weekday, but the wind will be onshore there. If you are interested please let me know your availability and schedule and we'll work out a definite plan.

We'll do an IKO certification day tomorrow at Montrose Beach since this will be best with people's work schedules. I'll plan on being there about 3pm until sunset. I'm flexible so please let me know if you'd like to schedule an earlier time. Please see me before you begin kiting to register for the IKO certification card. You will probably find me near the rigging area at Montrose Beach.

Got up early this morning to get before-work session. By 7:00 I was already finishing to pump my 9m on Waukegan, judging from the wind on the beach that It will be way more than I need. Few minutes later, ready to launch by myself another early birds shows up and helps me out. This was my first time trying my new 9m, but unfortunately, I did not get much riding this morning - a likely combination of funky winds today and rider's inabilities. The other fellow with his 13m, (about my weight) was doing much better, but complained as well about few dead spots off-shore. Left about 8:30 leaving two guys on the beach. Not sure if it will pickup this afternoon, but let's hope so.

Marcin that's what you get when you don't let your friends know that you are going to have a morning session. They would have told you that Waukegan was not the best option for today , at least in the morning when there was not enough E in the wind.
Keep it up and you will have more of those fruitless trips

On the other hand, Montrose was quite nice, despite completely disorganized waves.

Tom, congrats on the certification. I understand that Amanda is here only for a short while, so maybe you should set a goal to obtain credentials to certify others in the future? This was a weird day for me. On the retrospect, it was the rider that did not deliver. As Maly suggested, I went to Zion for a afternoon session. Got there around 6pm and pumped my 12m since I did not wanted to repeat my experience from the morning session. Again, just like in the morning, I was the only with the Kite there and it stayed that way for the rest of the day. Where were you guys today? The wind was clean and the waves were maybe more organized than on Montrose beach, but not very merciful nevertheless, making me feel like I am in a washing machine when getting in the water from the shore. As I made few rides, and (to my huge surprise) as I was able to come back to the same place I started, I started to feel a bit overpowered and decided to go back and change for 9m. Twenty minutes later, I was on 9, but this time either the wind dwindled enough or I just don't know how to pilot this new kite (yet). Needless to say, unable to keep upwind got only few rides and few walks before wrapping up this short afternoon session. All in all, 5 hours between driving and the setup, I got maybe an hour of riding at best. Still, on the positive notes, got few upwind rides, did not lose the board on the water, did not drop the kite in the water and self my kites landed cleanly each time. Hoping that this experience will pay off sooner or later

all those hassles with the intermittent rewards create a raging case of OCD in the form of kitesurfing.

Alarmclock71: you were in a good spot yesterday, I'm surprised that none else was there. A few of us were down in Casino seeking for waves and the same happened in MC, Montrose is a convenient spot for who lives in the city.

Keep trying until the OCD will have you...

had fun kiting with the boys to St. Joe.... winds were more like the Wolf but left me feeling confident enough that I can now try to tackle it tomorrow with the SW winds on the way... forecast is 20mph by 5ish... Can't wait to take that 2min commute from work to get there

Got a great session in with maybe 10-12 other kiters at Montrose yesterday mostly riding 12 meters from 5pm-sunset. It was a bit crazy out there dodging windsurfers, SUPs, surfers, kids swimming, dogs, buoys, and spectators. All that coupled with 4-5' waves coming out of every direction made for a difficult session but still a great night.

... Big thanks goes out to Amanda for certifying myself, other riders and for the refresher course.

Whoa Mates!

Had one of the most spectacular sessions yesterday of my kiting days. Rode hard for 4 or so hours, with the Klatt and the jkjaeschke who probably rode closer to 6 hours. Feeling the pain today.

glad to hear that alot of riding was had by all yesterday..........started at Baldy early and got a few overhead peeling waves riding solo with Kuau running the beach, before hitting the casino with Ben and Lynch bout noon.....wind was soooo consistent all day long at bout 20 and continued to build to almost 30 as it began cooling off....lit on my 9m and short lines to finish the day with smooth waves consistently coming in....just whipped!!!!! Pier, Johnny Boy, and Leno showed up and ripped it on their surfboards, and when I left at 7:30 it was still hammering with just Ben's buddy Art finishing up a warm, sunny, windy day at casino.....what an awesome day on the water.....

Agree with west, wind was super steady yesterday. Morning was a little light then early afternoon things fired up. Was lit on my 12 from ~1-7, one of the best sessions I've ever had.

I was at Zion from 10am to 5pm.
Smooth 20 mph wind building to mid 20`s after 3.
Started with a 20min side stroke in after spiking my kite and dump valve opened on my first run.
Glad I was close to shore.
