Does Waukegan charge on a weekday?

Im new into this sport and wanna see more kiteborders out there with me.
Is it better to hit Michigan City or go at Waukegan? they both look right for today
Thanks!

Can I fly a kite at Montrose if it's where you all launch and away from people? I'm looking to meet a few guys and get some advice for a novice. Not looking to body drag, board or jump, just want to get a little more comfortable with my new 11M but I have to work until 6 ish today. I live in Lincoln Park so Montrose is by far the most convenient spot for me, but last thing I want to do is get the community in trouble.

A 1 Meter trainer kite, yes. A 3M trainer...borderline. Anything larger... not a good idea in the summer. Its gonna be packed with people.

Thanks, Any suggestions on a safer place to practice during the summer or am I going to have to hold up until mid-September when the crowds begin to disperse? I'm already planning on investing in a thick wetsuit to extend training as long as possible.

there are long stretches to practice with ur big kite at mc if you simply use good judgement. the beach is miles long so walk until you see an open spot. stop if people enter your area and wait or move to a new one. near the end of day you will find much of the beach wide open even on a nice day. again, remember to draw the line and know when to stop is what matters, otherwise you can find many beaches to practice on this side..its all how you approach and respect.

Once AGAIN Scotty G delivers the wind... how does he do it!? Loving it up at MC and got in a solid couple of hours with waves lining up just right with the wind and my 14m Rally just eating it all up. Rode into the sunset setting behind Chicago then transitioned toward shore to ride in to a massive full moon over the dunes... guess thats what they call soul surfin'.

yeah seeing that moonrise over the cliffs on down the shore from da haven was killer.....we were just finishing the 2nd of our downwinders bout that time, awesome sunset as well!! Group of 8 of us tagged the head high surf between South Haven and St Joe, it was a mighty fine time in that warm, warm water. PURE MICHIGAN.........

whhhhhhoooowweeee. yeah michiana is been damn nice last 13 years for me, and glad some of my new found friends are now in on it. Being able to hang out with family and friends while the afterburners merge with the moonlight and then catch a warm shower walking home makes it all a little crazy. Time to switch into swim mode for what is the best impression of a caribbean sea I could imagine, until the weekend when we do it all again.

mikebreck---take the trainer to Northerly Island. There are large areas and usually great wind to fly a trainer plus you wont have to avoid people running around like Montrose. If you do want to go to Montrose, use the soccer fields on the east side of the that large mound/hill as opposed to the beach. Enjoy.
