If this keeps backing more westerly as it says tonight then MC might be an all time record day for sheer size. Its at the last stop on the lake for fetch and might have just enough NW/WNW at the shore to experience size vs. angle of attack, after a this strong NNW all night up the lake. Prolly 7 or more sandbars to cross before making to the "outside" on such a day but just to hear the sound of such waves out there will be stunning. Outside breaks will be heaving well outside the pier just down the beach. Been waiting a long time for this...

Given the direction and the strength of the forcasts their will be some "carnage" on Saturday....don't become a casualty yourself!!!! As always kite with caution, and remember SAFETY FIRST......in other words don't go out if you can't swim in; and find a beach suitable for your level of competence given the conditions.

That being said, it should be the first BIG NW of the season, fall is a comin'....like a buddy of mine likes to say "ITS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG".........see you at sunrise BROS!!!!!

I've been out a few times now on Lake Michigan, but have not yet had a great day where the winds were just right. I have taken lessons in Ft Meyers Fl., and I'm very safety conscious. I would like to meet up with someone with some experience Saturday if anyone is interested. Not sure what the best spot is with the current wind forecast. I have to be at Great Lakes Naval Base at 0800 in the morning, and should be done by 0900, so if anyone is going to Zion or Waukegan, I'll be right in that area.

I'm thinking about going to one of those places as well, guy I usually ride with has mono, so I need someone to go with. Let me know your plan and maybe i could help out a bit. Hopefully its a good NNE.

It looks like it might be off shore for the west side of the lake, so we'll see.

Ya, Im thinking either Casino Beach in Hammond or MC, might be a bit onshore though. Has anyone ridden the Beasch in Hammond in front of the BP factory? LOoks like the sand bar could be nice for getting a bit upwind.

Windfinder is also calling for it to only be 12knts gusting 15knts!?!?... Got a couple of us heading for the safety of Silver Beach at St. Joe by day break but will keep an eye out for MC to do something special like it always does... NOAA says NW 30knts, waterspouts, 7-10' waves... crazy!

Thinking Lake St. will look at the wind in the morning and make the call then. Are they charging for parking @ Lake?
