With all due respect, Silver Beach in St. Joe is roughly 20-30 degrees more North off from MC... That can make all the difference in my mind.

Hawaiian measurements on waves is as so: it is measured from the backside, as a surfer in the water would see as the wave passes, and then minimized a bit....basically about half the size of the face then downgraded, so as to humble the haoles who are visiting from the mainland......ex: a 20 ft face on a wave in Hawaii would be called 8 ft by a local, a visiting surfer from Califorinia might call the same wave 25 ft........haoles have a tendency to exaggerate, and hawaiians have a tendency to minimize for effect; basically the opposite of "boasting"............bragging about the size of the waves you ride is "taboo" in Hawaii; cause every surfer knows that their time to get pummeled is always coming, just over the horizon!!

West,no doubt we have some of the finest riders here in Midwest,you know I love our ocean,always different always changing,but sometimes I do miss Hawaii a lot,they do approach life with different thinking,never about them always about Soul,always looking out for each other.

Hi! Visiting from Chicago from Toronto. Looks like tomorrow may be the day!

I've kited Montrose (years ago), Miller, Michigan City, St. Joe, South Haven (epic day), North Haven in the past. What's the call for tomorrow? I'm guessing S Haven should be excellent but a long trek. How about MC or St. Joes?

For those of you on the road, it's raining in South HAven right now, but looks like it will soon clear. THere's showers on the radar all the way back to the indiana /michigan state line.

Im going to slowly head toward Miller.

Just came back from Miller. OK, let's talk about it Hawaiian style, so dear to Ivo's heart
The white puppies of the shore break were mostly in the 2ft range, while on the outside, at least as far as I went, which wasn't very far, they were double that size.
A few of them caressed my neck like a wahine strumming her ukelele.
Once or twice my board patted me gently on the head but I had a helmet on.

Oh, screw it... it was a bit scary on the outside but plenty of fun. I learned quite a bit. Most importantly, how quickly you can take off after a spill when another set is approaching...
I hope more people will be showing up during the day, there were just two guys by the pier when I came, and later only 3 more showed up...
