Casino

I'm planning on coming to Casino tomorrow (Monday) afternoon to take some pics and maybe Tuesday as well. Hope to see some familiar faces there.

Nice pics! You get scary close. If I had known you do sequentials I would busted out a few moves!

To the KOOK who refused to heed Blaise's warnings not to go out with a 13 METER, saying you'd just "edge harder", who then tried to self launch after I refused to launch you, who then proceeded to self launch into a 360 tomahawk slamming the kite into the parking lot, leaving a 50 foot plow trail in the sand just feet away from the wall, who THEN tried to set up again and get a launch from Scotty....congratulations for getting the KOOK OF THE YEAR AWARD.

You saw us all powered up on 7-8M kites in gnarly conditions! You are lucky to be alive or not seriously hurt. Had you launched and got lucky enough to get past the Casino's gusty shadow line with a 13M there wouldn't have been any edging, but rather a teabag, loft, or plain old wipeout straight into the rocks, trees, concrete wall, parking lot or worse yet, the power lines.

Take a step back and learn. Rather than being pissed at us you should be thanking us for not participating in your stubbornness.

I think you are a genius, and that's from a guy who talked to the best in the business, and saw their work (I used to work for National Geographic). The drama, the composition, the sixth-sense feel for just the right moment... of course top-of-the-line lens doesn't hurt but that's the easy part...

Thanks. Still posting on the set it should be done by tomorrow. Note that I tend to shoot whatever is closest to me so the guys that are closer get more frames. If I have notice like I did yesterday I can pick up the larger lens and get more detail while you guys are out farther.

The other photographer was from the sun times...I did not check but one of you may have made the paper today.

Photos are amazing! Somehow you managed to get a coudy day to just pop with beautiful contrasts and capture the raw emotion... That was my biggest day at Casino, because I've only kited there a couple times though.. still challenging conditions and my 2006 7m Waroo w/o upgraded bridle jellied and inverted when a mega gust hit it and it was time to call it quits...popped safety, body surfed in, picked kite off the beach, and lived to kite another day. I was having too much fun and it was turning in to 5-6m conditions as sunset approached anyway.

Thanks Paul for not launching that guy, I did not either...13m Waroo in 35knts=death especially at Casino. Please listen to experienced kiters like Scotty, Paul, and Blaise when they say its too dangerous. Its not that they dont want you to have fun, rather not get killed. Like Paul said, if you had made it out to open water out of the Casino shadow you would have been lofted and only bad things would have happened.

i threw photoguy off talkin up the amazing casino to find it really out of form and just way blown out. Such an amazing photog shows up on prolly the worst form i have ever seen with everyone getting pulled off their game by the harsh wind, but how bout the quality in what he made of it!! So much to capture and how lucky to have someone so talented take interest...
