Keith,I know you started to kite last year,but we already had this debate once a month ago.

First of all there is nothing quite frankly normal to kite on NNW at Keegs,if u would have done that you would know the wind is coming over the powerplant,trees.ect ,competely unstable,super unsafe.Even N there is not that good.Its fricking cold with 50knts wind on the lake.

No matter what I think about riding offshore theres etiqute on the board about not encouraging others to ride in those conditions.So no posting "side off where to ride"

1.) Go to Zion if you are going on a North

2.) Offshore isn't good, and when it's already gusty it's bad, and when it's blowing the most it has all year.....you're just dumb. I like cutting the safety line rail thin, but this is waaaay over that line. Go somewhere safe you kook.

Already rode about an hour, no issues. Perfect side, albeit a bit gusty. Completely underwhelmed on the 7m. Lots of chop, but that was to be expected. Exhausted And got my kiting fix. Until I find a kiting buddy who's willing to tackle some "hairy" situations (And today wasn't that bad), I'll keep hoping someone replies.

Why didn't you go to Zion? The wind has to blow over all that crap even on a due N at Waukegan

Sorry, I didn't get your message until I'd already finished at Waukegan, Also, I've never kited at Zion. The chop got pretty annoying, but it was fun overall!

And btw guys, Before you start throwing around numbers like "50 knots" check the forecast. 18mph gusting MAYBE 30 at Waukegan.

Ignorance isn't an excuse to doing your homework on riding spots. You will get shoved into the jetty if you have a problem in STRONG, EXTREMELY GUSTY conditions at Waukegan. Zion is literally 5-7 minutes more north with a much cleaner setup. Do it next time on a North

I know what the riding situation is at Waukegan. I walked basically the entire mile up to the northernmost jetty and then started kiting. It isn't ignorance if you know what you are capable of and remember the safety training.

I think the point is multi faceted:

- You've got a shitty location over trees and buildings at your location
- You've got a VERY close BETTER location (Zion)
- You've got already Gusty winds
- You've got extremly strong winds.
- You've got a jetty downwind of you (you say you were way upwind....alright one bad thing down)


Each one of those is bad in itself...do-able, but bad. You add all of them up and you are just asking for a crap-tastic time. Do it right, that's all I'm saying. You really aren't going to win this one I think. Like I am saying it's the point that many things are wrong here.

I don't post on here looking for anyone's approval or disapproval. I'm looking for someone to join me, Whether it had been at Waukegan or elsewhere. I get that YOU (as a collective) don't approve, but there are others out on the lake, so I'm not the only one who finds it kiteable.

And again, maybe it is because my kites are not top-of-the-line and brand-new like most of yours, but I was completely underwhelmed today on the 7m. I would rather be overpowered on a day like today than underpowered.

With today.I have issue with you posting on this forum nonsence like that today because there are people who just read this forum,complete beginners and know even less about this lake and sport than you do.How many days you got on lake,,5?10?15?..if you don't understand basic safety and not looking to follow advice from others,that's fine with me,but someone else might think after reading your post its ok to kite Keeg on such a direction.Which not even you don't know nothing about.

With yesterday,since it must have been you.Casino is advance spot,definetelly not for practising or learning.If for some reason you happend to end up there,you were bound to follow watermans riding that spot.Scotty,Paul,ect are very experince riders and blow them off like that its just bullshit.
You were lucky they had some understanding with you,because if there would be different crew I could guratee to you you would not put that 13m up.Kiters have almost zero tolerence for losing spots because ignorance.

Somehow learn from what? It was well understood throughout the Chicagoland area that noobs shouldn't go out. I know the inherent risks of kiting and today's weather. I had a great time riding challenging chop in sub-par winds. That's not for everyone, and I realize that, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Are you going to tell me I need a disclaimer or something? Kiting is inherently dangerous. I think most if not all know that.

I think people are trying to tell you that you might have been better off if you went somewhere else, not stopping you from having fun.
I have my own share of stupid windsurfing and kiting decision, and I believe in collective wisdom of this forum.

No..Im telling you its basic etiquette not to post about to kite in off shore conditions on this forum,this is not open for debate do you understand this dude?
