Gusty? Yes. Up-and-down? Yes. Cold? Sure. But tons of fun, going beyond and above that now-or-never feel that was there.

Holland was 9m side shore with clean head high waves......couple of kites in the air when I arrived at 10. Rode for a couple of hours next to the pier, was super warm. TG and Jimbo showed up and we did a downwinder to Port Sheldon....bit gusty, but smooth waves and sunny!!!!!!!!!! Nice Tday

I upgraded to 5mm non-split-toe booties...what a difference. For the cost of the gas of one session, having the right booties makes a huge difference this late in the season (gloves too)...maybe its time for an upgrade?

Yeah, I wear a 6mm round toe...feet are always toasty warm! Was in the water 3 hours straight, no prob...

Great idea. I always assumed I wouldn't be able to feel the board in anything thicker than 3 mm but I guess if I can't feel the board because I'm frozen stiff, it's time to reconsider.

Hey Tom,

don't be afraid to use thick booties, 5mm or 6mm will make a huge difference compared to 3mm keeping your feet warm while you won't lose much feel with the board.

I was concerned about that since I couldn't find anything thinner than 7mm 3 years ago, the season was ending and I didn't want to waste any more time in searching so I thought: "I won't feel the board but at least I can be out in the water". I bought them and gladly noticed that I was wrong: I could ride with no problems, never been cold and I still use them after 3 seasons.

3 mil gloves 5 mil boots........5/4 built in hood, undershirt......that's the ticket....still getting cold, then it is too cold....good for 40:40!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wear a pair of 1mm shorts w a titanium lining butbits more for changing than warmth. When my hands are cold at the end of a session, it sometimes takes a while to get the suit off and i'm usually outside, 1mm of windblock makes a big diff!

this was to test new GoPro slow motion 240fps and 120fps modes, I spent minimal time on video editing so don't comment on that or my sloppy riding
