OBX - where in OBX?

Postby grigorib » Sat Jan 12, 2013 10:41 am

OBX is large. Any suggestions on specific areas to stay and on riding spots?
What are conditions there in beginning of March?

Stay in Rodanthe/Salvo/Waves.

March is the beginning of the SW flow and the beginning of the season for REAL watersports. Take a wetsuit, gloves and booties.

The gloves and booties I wanted to avoid :)
I'd like to help my friend to get a bit into kites and cold watet is something unnecessary.
Maybe SPI right before the spring break then....hmm

Thanks for locations and tips!

Early March can still be cold, but also warm depending on the season. If playing the odds, the end of March and into April are warmer and it can be windy. Agree that Rodanthe/Waves/Salvo have some great riding spots. Avon is centrally located and have the bigger Food Lion store and if you are not staying right on the water, has a lot of riding spots close by to the south and north.

Are you going for flat water, waves or both?

I run a 2 week riding and training trip every fall and will be adding a spring trip this year, but it will be mid to late April.

Great place to ride with tons of options.

I'm in for flats. Lake Michigan has more waves than I ever want :)
So said, let me know and add me to the list of those interested to share house and maybe a ride too.
