What a day...

Met the Madison crew (Jens and Ben) in Saint Joseph, the conditions were not right so we decided to drive a little further N to SH.

Arriving to the beach in SH and seeing 4 kites in the water made me smile, Matt, John and two other riders were getting it good on 9-10m.

We rigged and joined them, I was well juiced on my 7.5m, the waves were small but clean and kept building during the day.

After 1h or so it started to crank 35+, slightly side off and quite gusty: I decided to take a short break and watch Jens switching to his twin tip and boosting big, spectacular

It came back side on, dropped 10knts and with the sun showing up between the clouds and the waves building we got ready for the best part of the session.

We rode until dark, my legs were not responding to what I was asking them to do so I took few short breaks to stretch and enjoyed watching Jens and Ben ripping it with the sunset colors in the background, priceless seeing Jens making 5-7 turns on the same wave and then cranking upwind to do it again.

We celebrated the day with a brew and then stopped to get some Greek food on the way back.

Jan 19th, 45F...thanks 2013, let's do it again!

I have yet to be let down when traveling to the east shore and yesterday was no exception. Started off slow but lived up to expectations by the end. A suprise wind spike mid afternoon added some excitement. We were all a bit rusty but dusted it off throughout the sessions.

If global warming is the future then i indeed look forward to more January kiting. The lake does look scary low though.

I had other crap going on otherwise I too would have "dusted it off" for a good session in January. I wish global warming would bring more east winds for the west coast folks. Getting to a good spot in Michigan takes sooo long.

Sometimes i mull around, reluctant to pull the trigger and drive. I have learned though that the drive isn't half as bad as sitting at home checking the wind wishing i was kiting.

Yeah, I hear you there buddy....I got over that shiz years ago.......I used to think driving to Wolfie was a haul....I remember when heading over to Weko was "way on the other side of the BIG LAKE"......now my most likely destination is Da Haven, and that is just the first of many frequented stops along the tracks...........ALL ABOARD!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are gonna kite Ol Mother Michigan with regularity, find some tunes you dig, grab a kiting friend and ride buddy ride.....up with the sun, gone with the wind.................either you will be kiting, or wishing that you were, the choice is yours.........

If its head or better and ur kiting mo then driving good deal. Driving will jack up ur back and sucks. The haven is worth it and glad u got it but cowboy we have tons a riding in the spring almost every other day at wolf and its not any exception as u make it sound. March gonna come early and a short drive to a long season awaits

Some people prefer to live in the hustle and bustle of a big city, some people prefer the calm, quiet, large space that the burbs/country provide. Is any one person right? Naah!

West, Jens, FSP: This comes up from time to time and I just say: to each there own. I'm on the side of grabbing a quick 3 hour session more often then driving that time going one way, but I get it for the people that do it the other way around and that's just fine by me.

I saw at the Casino the other day the Lake is a bit frozen now :(. Gotta wait for the warm up now
