Michigan City 4/19

Postby mrgrey » Thu Apr 18, 2013 1:15 pm

Could it be true!? Back to back Friday WSW gales!? I missed everyone last Friday at Scotty G's summer stomping grounds, but hope to see some bodies there tomorrow. Last week was a little bit of magic in my short career as a kiter and I hope it repeats! Hope to be there early/mid afternoon if it all hold true. Anyone up for playin a little afternoon hookie from work and seein what's up?

a little maui, hatteras, gorge, and a traveling micro brew? mc serves it up! 4-7 might favor more of the little maui!

Absolutely ripping out here... Waves are building to serious heights and very long lines. I was blown off the lake on my 8m, another guy blew his 7m, and one more is on the way to the ER. (Dont ask who, not my business to say) Be safe out here and know your limits. I reached mine for the time being...

...BTW the meter seems to be a little off on the direction at times. Was side shore, twitching side-on and meter showed off shore. Just something to think about... As I sit here it is 5-7m conditions.

while ivo seemed to think it favored a lil maui :D :D , i would have to say mars? Barron beach with 34 to 42 knts, no leaves on the trees, ice pellots and grey kept those who rigged warm. 3me led the charge to then pass the baton to myself and andrew? as we shot within reach of saturn on some fun space travel. Waves had some lines and nice sections but hard to attack with all the depower- would have been sculpted art if not been so wind molested. This might be like the summer of 4 years ago that was too cold to swim but blew strong endless IN/MI thermals all summer.

My friend Brian took many of those shots and drives to Stony anytime it's going off. Said it was 18degrees nd he was alone for a while with punishing sets pushing 14 foot from the front. He's likely the best surfer on All the lakes Nd said that wave was harder to ride than when I saw him killing it in 18 foot Maria's Puerto Rico. Dude is N ex goldon gloves boxer, tough as nails and always on it. I clarify for grimace.. ThOse waves are good as it gets even by ocean standards.
