Paul andI were at Wolf Lake this afternoon hoping to score a ride ahead of the weather. We were both on the beach and watched the sky get a little dark. I told him that it was time to pack up. Within minutes the sky really got dark, then we saw a wall of dust across the lake over on the Illinois side. Then it hit... within 60 seconds I'd guess the winds were well over 50 and perhaps 60 knots. It was quickly followed by a wall of water.
Within 5 min it went from barely 10 knots to maybe 60 knots.
There were tree limbs down everywhere on my ride home.
A totally crazy lesson which teaches you to respect the weather.
