Tuesday 23! - Montrose, Casino, MC??

Postby WaWaZat » Mon Jul 22, 2013 10:42 pm

Beautiful day for a kite! Will it come in enough for Montrose or even Casino?? Or has Scotty G sold his soul to Wind Satan to covet it all for his backyard this day (Michigan City for our new peeps)?!

Me going to Zion, unless MC will be better, you call it.
All times I came to MC, wind never showed up, so I'm a bit sceptic and afraid to miss a great riding day. =)

Ill be at Montrose early afternoon. Hopefully since today is the coldest day of the week the beach won't be too crowded. Don't forget to check in with the lifeguards!!

Guess I will be the first to break it down, and it is true, if you missed this one you may suffer through all the rubs about to come. We and many others showed up at joe to find the wind 7m and building. As much as i love the place the outside was a bit slopey and made you run at at a weird angle that hindered a good top turn. BUT if you were patient and came into the shorebreak some pitching head high waves set up so easy anyone could lace in to get to the lip. A number of them were perfect for wrap arounds and aerials off the lip i will soon not forget. sun was amazing and hit it pretty damn good.

MC is just shore pounding tonight and as it goes NE in the am we will run some downwinders to get into some real goods. hard to imagine this is summer!!!

Gotta concur that St Broseph went off.. Best time for me was 630-830 when kiters disappeared and the "whack a mole" surfers started to call it a day. It left me and Paul from st Joseph as the lone kites and the break zone opened up and allowed me to start throwing more caution to the wind and get more aggressive with my turns and slashes I have been working on this year. The kite lived up to its name and slung me around toe side then back heel side with some haste then edged back out and gave up a simple boost kissin the break on the way back out to do it all over again.

The 75 miles of downwinders so far this year with some of the best riders and all around people on the lake this year have opened up a door to get more out of kiting for me, and for that I thank you. I can't wait to do it again!

Did the swell picked up in that time as well Matt?It was hard debate this time,I was "sure" about 30N on our weak side, but much harder with swell,South Heaven,St.Joe or 17th.

We did two downwinders with Petr from 17th to Waukegan, first was on 9m about head high easy going and second we start late around 5.30.We were waiting for one more compadre and I went to check out conditions if that voice in my head "takeeeee 7m outttt trooper" was right.I return with big grin from ear to ear and Petr asked why Im chuckling all the time, I told him you'll understand once you see what is waiting for us.Head and half clean heavy swell was just rolling in like no tmr.I was hoping its gonna get good, but I wasn't expecting this, saw 17th going off like this only couple times. All those classic wave spot were just hitting on all cylinders all the way to Motel in Zion.We were like two kids in a candy store,so stoked picking waves wayyyy out off shore and slamming them turn by turn to beach,so spaced out so clean..unbelievable day.

Glad everyone had amazing day as well.Im sure In a week I'll have to listen to full moon theory once more :)

btw.anyone have found CrazyFly board yesterday?
