tips for CAPE HATTERAS?

Postby oceanwalker » Fri Sep 20, 2013 4:15 pm

hey guys, i'm going to the cape oct 3 - oct 15, and have a few questions.. my level is beginner/intermediate (working on transitions), and i plan to take a few lessons but mostly do independent practice.

1. what are some good spots for launches etc for somebody at my level?
2. should i pay one of the schools to use their launching spots? if so, which is the best?
3. with whom should i take a few private lessons?
4. any suggestions on accommodations? i'm alone, and would ideally like a studio-like apartment (small but private).

thanks SO much!

Check with Bob:

In my opinion this is your best option for all the points you listed.

Good luck

Agree...check with Bob. Cool guy and knows Cape Hatteras like the back of his hand.

We have one slot open the first week. Oct 5th-12th and I have room for one more person for 3 hours of lessons.

Our house is on the sound which is shallow water for miles and miles. The walk to the water is about a 100 foot walk. Decent rigging at waters edge and you can take breaks and come back and ride again.

There are also many different riding spots, but knowing where to go can make or break a trip.

Let me know if you are interested.

Hey Stan...just replied to your PM and we have:

1 - king and 1 - bunk open the first week.
1 - King the second week.

All spots were full, but had recent cancelations.
