Wolf Lake 4 pm till 6:30. I think we need to rename Wolf "Lake hole in the wind". Wind 12-30; perfect kite: 8-10-12; Whiplash City with 4-5 holes... and they move around a bit! Screaming one minute and suddenly you either fall over backwards or sign n' sink...then SNAP and you're back to screaming. ...

Re: Monday Afternoon Waukegan

The Wolf was howling from about 1:30 to sunset getting stronger every 1/2 hour, 9 meter fully powered and pulling in on the front lines at the end. 7 kites and about 10 windsurfers. Over 70 degrees, no hood no gloves no problem!

Oct. 31, five mile downwinder from Miller's Marquette Park to Portage River walk park. monster waves on the outside but clean, smooooth and plenty of room in between. Quote of the day from surfer John: "Man those waves were monstrous! That was LIFE CHANGING!!"

Re: First Real Kitemare

Thanks for the story. It's good to know of things that can go wrong especially something you've probably never thought of before. I could see this happening in the right (or wrong) conditions at Wolf Lake.

Suckercaps

Suck-er-caps - Noun: white caps on water which entice a kiteboarder to rig gear and attempt to ride only to find out there's barely enough wind to plane much less stay up wind; illusiary water conditions which make a kiter feel foolish; waste of time.

Re: Plugged nose after a session

My doc says it's definately an alergic reaction to something in the water. When I asked him what he said "I don't know. There's no study I know of that's tested alergic reactions to algae blooms in fresh water lakes." Is that Rhinocort a prescription? And are you supposed to use it daily all summer ...

Plugged nose after a session

I'm not sure if there's been a thread about this topic, if so please stear me to it. Probably 85% of the time, after a good session on the lake my nose gets totally plugged up and sometimes drips for 24-48 hours. I've heard of several solutions including neti pot, needleless syringes shot into the n...

What the heck happened up there today? Down at the south end all hell broke loose, torrential downpours, big time lightning, black skies, scarry stuff. Hope it all stayed down here and you guys were tearing it up. Report please!

Re: 6-22-11 SW winds on the lower lake

When I first arrived at 11:45 it was dead calm then started to rain really hard (8 kites blown up on the beach and every one standing around with long faces). I went to town for a bite to eat and by the time I got back it was sunny and starting to blow. It just kept getting better and better with so...
