Those summer waters in 2013

I put this together a while ago, but never posted it for some reason. I was re-watching it the other day and reminded me of all the good times kiting and hanging out I had with all of you. Hope the winds are treating you well. I'm pretty sure I almost kicked a great white the other day - Saw a 5 foo...

Re: If you get bored on Mondays....you're doing it wrong

Hey Kevin! I used to have a helmet with it on top, but I found that cumbersome on my head. I saw Dimitri M. (Epic kites) just shoved it in his mouth so I tried it and it works well, plus if you get the leash you can just put it on your wrist while not biting down on it. It's come out of my mouth a f...

If you get bored on Mondays....you're doing it wrong

Just a little hello from the West Coast. I keep getting messages, pictures, and texts from a lot of people. Feelin' the love from 2000 miles away. Here's a pretty typical Monday. Monday blues????!?! What's that like :P If you want the scoop just ask. I heard (and can see) that the season is rocking ...

Re: Spring finally coming? Are you considering foil boarding

Foilboarding has been an awesome experience here as well. In the summer time we get a small thermal almost everyday there is a little bit of east in the forecast. Definitely not enough to even THINK about regular kiting, but enough to go foilboarding. My fear when I bought a foilboard was that it wo...

Re: Is this a good beginner board?

I'm just saying it's an old board, will work as a beginner board, and it's cheap. You get what you pay for. You will out grow the thing, but any beginner board should be outgrown. Tons of float on the surface. Are there better beginner boards, yes. Are they going to cost you more, sure. This isn't t...

Re: Is this a good beginner board?

A board like that will set back your progress in the sport, big time. But, beggars cannot be choosers so if you have all the time in the day and all the wind you can muster than trip and fall all over the place until you learn how to stand up. Sometimes no equipment puts you further ahead than bad ...

Re: Is this a good beginner board?

It's a good price, but not the best board. It IS too narrow, but you'll be fine. If price is a big deal, I'd get it, but you WILL eventually upgrade cause that thing just sucks to do ANY tricks on it. Mow the grass and learn; it's fine.

Me not need Coldwater gear - Me need 3/2 suit. Me leaving Hyperflex 6/5/4 suit with integrated hood - Medium Long - I'm 5' 10" and 175 lbs and it fits me fine. Probably fits someone that's 6'2" and same 175lbs better. Small rips, but not water entry anywhere. Lots of life left - $90 IMG_20150125_21...

Re: Off to the West Coast I go - Adrien

Man, now who's gonna amuse us with things like putting 2 sets of 26M lines together on a 17M Fat Lady and get yanked straight out of the water about 20 feet, then do the moon bounce, over kites, down the beach shouting.... "THERE'S WIND UP THERE.... I GOTTA GET THIS THING DOWN!!"? Hahahaha, good ti...

Off to the West Coast I go - Adrien

2008 was the year I first picked up a trainer kite. I flew the crap out of it, tried to fly it in a square, no looking, behind the back. I wanted to be proficient before I picked up the real thing. I bought a package from a local that had a 2005 13m Slingshot Fuel (C-kite), bar, bag, pump, board, we...

Ding on Carbon Fiber Board

Well hello there kiters. Been a while since most of us have seen some water action around here, so let's fix our gear up for next season. I dinged my MHL hydro foil board a few months ago near a pier. The actual board hit the pier so no damage below (good thing). Anyway it's a small ding about 1/4 s...

Re: Waukegan SSW 11/09

Meh, If it stays SSW it's OK, but it usually curves SW anyway. I wouldn't do it unless the forecast was a real South no more than 185* It's not just the safety factor of getting slightly blown off shore in the now dangerous cold temps, but to me it's the gusts generated. They are terrible and it jus...
