Re: JAWS, as my memory recalls......

Thanks West, I enjoyed that, and then poked around that surfing site for a while on a dreary Saturday in East Central Illinois. Just got back from two months kiting in Cape Town, doing lots of downwinders and watching the epic KOTA (check some of those videos for craziness, Jesse Richman got second ...

Re: Miller 10/4

I hope somebody got it today. We had a good day at Clinton Lake yesterday where at least the water is warm. Not sure about today, I got cold even so yesterday.

I managed to get him reconnected with his kite! Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Something big brewing Sep 19-21

[quote="noabacca"]I heard some chatter about a 10.5 RRD being found at Ludington State Park on Saturday. Didn't hear details of whether it was a wash up or left by a local goer. The owner may try to get in touch with Park Staff. I have no knowledge of the details, but I have always wondered if it wo...

Re: Something big brewing Sep 19-21

Epic day at KOGL today , although I see from wind history that South Haven really nuked today. Things stared early with 20 knots straight onshore and some rain. Ken and I rode 10m and 9m till the kite reps turned up, then spent the rest of the day on 7.5 Kahoona, and 7m Cabo as the wind turned to th...

Re: Something big brewing Sep 19-21

Pretty good day at KOGL today, 10m in the early morning, then it backed way off till folks were on big kites at lunch so I was on a 15m and surfboard. Then it filled back in early afternoon and I rode 12m for a while, then around 3:30 the rain came in and rode 14m for a bit before quitting for the d...

Re: Something big brewing Sep 19-21

KOGL was very light today, so Ken and I went up to LSP where it was blowing 18-25 from the south and got two hours from 4-6 on 14 and 12m respectively. Forecast still looks good for tomorrow for Grand Haven.

Re: Something big brewing Sep 19-21

A bunch of us (Frank, Jen, Michael, Kevin, Grigory, Ken, and me) are coming up for KOGL. May take off to Muskegon or LSP to get better wind if Grand Haven does not do the trick, but we're hoping the big lake will come through for us for a change. Hugh

Re: El Norte on Wednesday July 23rd?

Ken, Frank, his son Michael, and I had a pretty good day at Weko Beach in Michigan. They got there first and were riding 14, 12, and 9.5m respectively when I arrived around noon. I rode a 12m for a while on TT, but then had to go to surfboard. The wind backed off for about two hours, during which we...

El Norte on Wednesday July 23rd?

Might be tempted to come up north for the first time this year. Only ever had one good session on the big lake, with West, John, and the gang on the Michigan side, under a similar forecast.

Re: Keegs Sunday 6/8

Sorry I missed it. Was thinking of making this my first Lake Michigan session of the year, but stayed at Clinton Lake, which was useless. Please don't tell me it was as good as SailFlow says it was!

Re: Clinton Lake Saturday and Sunday 4/12 4/13

We had a good day. Started on 9m and went down to 7.5 and eventually 5.5 for several. Five kites out, including John from Watseka. Lovely and warm and while a little gusty at times, very good sessions.

Clinton Lake Saturday and Sunday 4/12 4/13

Clinton Lake is now warm enough for no booties or gloves and just a regular 3/2 wetsuit. I kited yesterday for almost 2 hours with a 9m covering 30 miles according to GPS Tracks, without getting cold (but I was careful and despite a lot of jumping did not crash). Several of us will be riding at the ...

Re: Clinton Lake 3/14/14

We had a good session yesterday afternoon. John (JDL) can down to join us, and so there were five kites out from about 1PM. The water was warm enough, maybe 50) I could kite in a relatively thin wetsuit and gloves, and no booties. Strong SEaster with guys on sizes from 8-10. Some good jumping (John ...

Re: Clinton Lake 3/14/14

Frank and some others will likely be kiting at the swimming beach in Mascoutin State Recreation area on the north side of the lake tomorrow in the strong forecast SEaster in the afternoon. Still too cold for my 3/2 wetsuit, but I may give it a try.

Re: Clinton Lake 3/14/14

Glad you enjoyed our little local heated lake! The water was too cold for me on Friday and today it is howling from the NE, but below freezing air temperature. I agree with pretty much everything else you said about our lake. We have a few local regulars (Frank and his son, Ken, Jim, Kevin, and me, ...
