Snowkiting, how to? NOT!

This guy escaped with his life and not a scratch apparently but that is scary, very scary. Looks like he is hanging to the bar fully powering the kite instead of letting it go when he got lofted.[/url]

This has happened bot because he was sheeting in, but rather because he caught a thermal. Have u seen the video with a guy with Lincoln's hat on the beach, and a guy getting lifted in the background? Well it is the same thing.
I read that the best way to 'escape' these thermals are to kiteloop a few times, since it gives you a 10-15 yrd drop each time.

Classic vid for sure. Here's the "tophat" one with Eric getting lofted:

He was unhooked for some of can see whenn he hooks back in mid air.

It's good to kite loop because it sends you forward so the apparent wind under you kite is less. Same reason that you eventually come back down after a big jump. Most of us have all had the double loft, where you jump then suddenly in the middle of your height you get another boost from a gust. you get twice as high with no effort  .

When you have air that is rising up and swirling around mountains, you're in a whole different ball game then on a wide open big expanse of water.
