Copper Harbor Kitefest March 21-23

Call it what you want, but the boys in the northwoods (way north) are try to get some folks up for some prime time kiting on the lakes/ hills up there. Kiting is still relatively new up there but the conditions are pretty epic, windy 4/5 days a week and Mt Bohemia when its calm. Snow totals up there are in the 280" mark and total on the ground is around 4+ feet.

Right now there are no "formal" list of events rather just a relaxed weekend and some good snow before the water season starts up. Copper Harbor is about 4.5 hours from Green Bay, WI.

We managed to get rooms for the weekend at discounted prices and can be booked here:
http://www.copperharborpines.com/
$70 for rooms with 2 Queens or $130 per night for the big cabin with 4 double beds.
Comes with breakfast

Conditions up there range from knee deep powder lakes to the frozen harbor/ lakeshore with ice shoves below 3 feet of snow:

Here is the local photographer's FB page which has recent posts of the conditions up there:

If you can make it let me know, as we are planning some food/ drinks/ etc.

I have 1, maybe 2 seats available in my vehicle, if anyone can meet up in Green Bay.

Just called the Pines and there rooms are full for the weekend and from the sounds of it there will be around 10-15 kiters up there. If you decide to go, feel free to come up as there are a couple other places in town to stay and we will find a place for you to crash.

Reminder also that there is NO cell coverage in Copper Harbor. About 10-15 miles south of Copper is when cell coverage goes out. The whole town has WIFI so you can connect to that and send out emails/ imessages.

Wind looks good for the weekend and they just got 6" today with another 1-3" expected Friday.
